From 48% to 98%

Improvement in teams’ psychological safety

A local government body went from high turn over, low psychological safety and toxic culture to increased teamwork, innovation and team culture

The council faced declining morale, resistance to feedback, and inconsistent team performance.

Through Data Drives Insight Team Excel process, teams completed anonymous safety surveys, leadership coaching, and group sessions to identify obstacles and co-design solutions. They implemented regular feedback loops and created a Culture Optimisation Group to sustain change.

Results were dramatic: one team’s psychological safety rose from 48% to 98%, another from 53% to 93%, and overall safety improved by an average of 15%. Staff performance lifted, turnover stabilised, and the workplace became more positive and collaborative.

100% ↓

Elimination of serious safety incidents

Combining Safe Teams and Safe Leads helped transform a reactive safety culture. The result: zero serious incidents and a 79% drop in recordable injuries.

The organisation’s teams were avoiding difficult conversations and felt disconnected from safety goals.

Data Drives Insight ran Safe Teams and Safe Leads assessments to pinpoint problem areas and equip leaders to respond. Through facilitated workshops, field coaching, and peer forums, teams learned to communicate openly and take responsibility for safety.

Culture scores showed a 10% reduction in reactive behaviour and a 10% increase in achieving culture. Over time, the organisation saw a complete elimination of serious injuries and a 79% reduction in total incidents, while productivity rose 4.5%.

+57%

Increase in team psychological safety

A residential aged care manager transformed their leadership approach using Data Drives Insight’s Care Leads. The shift built trust, improved team safety, and reduced turnover by up to 25%.

The manager began with a team struggling under stress, low morale, and rising staff turnover.

Through the Care Leads 360 assessment, they discovered gaps in self-care, delegation, and communication. With coaching support and regular reflection, they focused on empowering others, addressing issues early, and prioritising their own wellbeing.

Over 12 months, psychological safety improved by 57%, the team became more cohesive and proactive, and regrettable turnover dropped by around 20–25%. The manager now mentors others in the organisation.

79% ↓

Reduction in recordable safety incidents

A major infrastructure organisation used Data Drives Insight’s Safe Leads to improve safety leadership and culture. Within a year, total recordable incidents fell by 79% and serious injuries were eliminated.

The organisation faced inconsistent safety performance and a reactive culture during a major restructure.

Using the Safe Leads 360 assessment, leadership gaps were identified—teams led by stronger safety leaders had 17–34% higher confidence and engagement. Leaders completed in-field coaching, team sessions, and a Safety Summit to embed new behaviours.

The result was a 79% reduction in total recordable incidents, zero serious injuries, and a 4.5% rise in productivity, alongside a measurable cultural shift from reactive to achieving.

12 months

Roadmap built and set for full retest in one year

A newly formed leadership team used Data Drives Insight’s Care Leads 360 to align on values, identify gaps, and design a targeted leadership program. They created a clear 12-month plan to measure progress and growth.

After a major restructure, the leadership team lacked shared direction and consistency.

Data Drives Insight facilitated a 360-degree leadership assessment covering six key domains, followed by individual debriefs and self-development planning. Leaders identified key challenges in wellbeing, accountability, and managing performance.

Together they built a team charter, agreed on priorities, and launched a tailored development program. A full reassessment was scheduled for 12 months to track improvement across all domains.

+68%

Higher consumer satisfaction in top-performing teams

Teams with higher caring capability recorded 68% higher consumer satisfaction and 23% greater employee engagement. Care Teams helped link culture and performance directly to measurable outcomes.

This aged care provider wanted to understand what made some teams excel while others struggled.

Through Data Drives Insight’s Care Teams assessment, each site’s care capability, engagement, and culture were measured. The data showed a clear link: “Great” teams scored far higher in engagement, teamwork, and resident experience.

The best-performing sites achieved a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 69.9 compared to the industry average of 44, while reducing staff turnover and sick leave costs by over $1.8 million annually. The organisation used these insights to replicate high-performing team behaviours across all sites.

$30K/month

Savings in agency staffing costs

By investing in culture and psychological safety, an aged care provider reduced reliance on costly agency staff. Monthly agency fees dropped by $30,000 while safety and engagement improved.

One site was experiencing high sick leave, frequent incidents, and heavy use of agency staff—costing almost $600,000 a year.

Using Data Drives Insight’s Team Excel platform, psychological safety was measured and developed through coaching and structured team sessions. Data showed that teams with higher safety scores used fewer agency hours and had fewer incidents.

After implementation, agency costs fell by roughly $30,000 per month, a return that far exceeded the $2,500 monthly program cost. Leaders gained clear visibility into the financial and cultural impact of team development.

84.6%

Of safety and quality performance explained by leadership capability

Three hospitals used Data Drives Insight’s Health Leads to assess and build leadership capability across wards. The results explained over 80% of clinical safety and quality performance differences.

The hospitals wanted to understand how leadership quality affected care outcomes.

Using Health Leads, 27 leaders—from directors to team leaders—were assessed across leadership and engagement dimensions. The analysis found that leadership capability explained 84.6% of variation in safety and quality results, and nearly half of leader impact. Data Drives Insight facilitated group workshops and individual coaching covering change, conflict, resilience, and high-performing team culture.

The data guided a focused development program to lift leadership standards and patient outcomes.

“Our strong partnership with Data Drives Insight is a perfect way to connect our valued clients with high quality diagnostic and learning materials. Data Drives Insight provides us with great products, personalised support and a strong network for collaboration”

Pete Smith
Director Reflect

“I have received nothing but positive feedback from the teams that I have supported in implementing the Leader Excel program (formerly PSI360). It has proved to be simple for users to navigate and understand, and the debrief process facilitates meaningful, constructive, and solutions focussed conversations. I am recommending Leader Excel to clients as a solution for teams to learn about psychosocial hazards and proactively assess and mitigate the “unseen” risks. Thank you to the team at Data Drives Insights, who have provided me with great professional support.”

Travis Rickson
Director Hybrid Corporate Solutions

“When we met with Ash and Abby from Data Drives Insight, we were looking for some tools to support us in coaching organisations to be more psychologically safe. Their 360 assessments give us concrete baseline data to focus our coaching conversations, rather than relying solely on subjective feedback. Access to the comparative data helps you show clients where they stand relative to similar organisations in their sector. This has been a huge benefit for the clients we have coached with the tools. DDI’s tools let you demonstrate measurable improvement over time, proving the ROI of your coaching interventions, which strengthens trust as a provider.”

Kathy McKenzie
Director Fire Up Coaching

“I’ve worked closely with DDI tools and coaching partners to work on the development within our team. Part of this process included the Leader Excel survey (formerly PSI360) and individual feedback sessions. This process provided incredible insight into team dynamics and personal strengths, as well as areas for focus and improvement. Our coach’s guidance throughout the process meant it was easy to understand and interpret the data and allowed for growth and development to work on those areas where we can do and be better. I’d highly recommend DDI tools and coaching partners anyone looking to realign their team’s focus and direction and build internal resilience and accountability at all levels”

Jenn
Executive, Catholic Education WA

“At AIM WA, we understand psychological safety isn’t about ‘being nice’ – it’s about creating the organisational conditions for challenge, learning and professional growth. That’s why we’ve embedded DDI’s industry-specific tools into our programs where leaders need to build the trust and clarity their teams need to speak up, take considered risks and perform at their best.”

Drew Mayhills FAIM CF
Chief Learning and Development Officer

“The micro-learnings were quick and easy to use. Simple but thought provoking, and helped me reflect and challenge my current habits, and how I might adapt to get even better outcomes with my team”

Kim
Area Manager, Western Power

“Health Leads (formerly HILCA360) has dramatically changed the way I deal with people. I know why I react the way I do and I can now stop and think about it before I respond. It’s been really helpful at the moment with everything going on [with COVID-19] as I’ve worked harder and longer than I ever have in my career.”

Nurse Unit Manager

“By using Care Leads (formerly CILCA360) we were able to go through a shared journey about the strengths and opportunities of both the team and as individuals. Care Leads allowed a much richer development discussion than is normally the case with traditional 360 tools.”
